| Saint Louis University Hospital is one of only two Beta sites in the United States for this diagnostic equipment, making it the only hospital in a 500-mile radius to own and operate this powerful diagnostic technology. By combining computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography (PET), a PET/CT scanner gives physicians a way to accurately merge two distinct radiologic images into one image of a patient's entire body. This allows for greater diagnostic accuracy than is possible with eigher technology alone. |
