Reaching our community is central to our goal of excellent, comprehensive cancer care. The physicians and staff of the Saint Louis University Cancer Center participate in a variety of programs that help improve cancer care and treatment. Information about these programs is readily available in the Center.

Our Cancer Center team supports many programs and events that help patients and families through the issues of cancer diagnosis and treatment. In 2006, more than 3,500 patients and families were served through the Cancer Information Center, with more than 440 people attending support groups or the lecture series.

Our new program, Saint Louis University Cancer Survivors’ Network, is dedicated to helping our cancer patients and survivors share and learn as they contend with the many challenges they face after a life-altering diagnosis. Included in this venture is a lunch program with a guest speaker who reaches survivors as well as family and friends, plus a quarterly newsletter. Through this network we also have increased our Cancer Center volunteers. Greeting and walking patients to appointments, answering phones in the Cancer Information Center, assisting with special events and working on the newsletter are some of the duties our volunteers fulfill each day.

The Grand Vision Cancer Information Center is available to help people gain knowledge on preventing cancer and dealing with the diagnosis, treatments and side effects of the disease. For more information, contact Cathy Turcotte or Kathleen Klebert at 314-268-7015.
