How Tenet Cares in the Community

The Tenet Healthcare Foundation was established in 1998 by Tenet Healthcare Corporation to make grants to worthy organizations for a variety of charitable purposes. The Foundation directs the majority of its funding to helping meet unmet or underserved health care needs in the communities in which Tenet operates its hospitals and other facilities. Secondarily, the Foundation makes grants in support of appropriate educational, human service, civic and humanities-supporting organizations.

Through the grant-making program, the Foundation administers Tenet’s corporate and hospital grant-giving. Working with an annual allocation, each of our facilities and regional markets collaborate with the Foundation to provide grant support to charitable organizations in their communities that meet Foundation guidelines.

As of May 2000, the Foundation gave nearly $11 million in grants to some 1,100 charitable organizations. These donations ranged from providing free prescription drugs to poor and uninsured patients in Hickory, N.C., to providing warm winter coats at Christmas time to needy children in El Paso.
