Regular visiting hours are 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Only three visitors at a time are allowed at a patient's bedside on acute care units. In intensive care units (ICUs), only two visitors are allowed.
Children under 12 must be with an adult at all times. Children under 13 are not allowed in the ICUs, ICU waiting room or the 8 North bone marrow transplant unit unless approval is first received from the unit nurse manager, hospital nursing supervisor or the patient's physician.
Families staying after 8:30 p.m. must first obtain overnight visitation authorization from the nurse manager or charge nurse on that unit, and then obtain an overnight pass from the Protective Services station located in the Emergency Department. Only one immediate family member will be permitted to stay unless the nurse manager or charge nurse has authorized a critical pass. Families are not allowed to stay overnight in patients' rooms unless approved by a nurse manager or charge nurse and only if the patient is in a private room.
All families arriving between 8:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. must enter the hospital through the Emergency Department ambulatory entrance and obtain a visitor's pass from the Protective Services officer at the authorization of the patient's nurse manager or charge nurse. Families are required to show proper identification before receiving a pass.
