Grand Boulevard Bridge Closing Update

Vandeventer, Compton and Jefferson Ave can be used as detours from the north.
Beginning Monday, March 14, 2011, Grand Boulevard will be closed from Chouteau Avenue to Interstate 64/Highway 40 while MoDOT oversees the construction of a new Grand Boulevard bridge and MetroLink Station. This area DOES NOT include Grand Boulevard directly in front of Saint Louis University Hospital.  However, Eastbound Interstate 64/40 travelers to the hospital will be redirected to exit at Vandeventer, and westbound traffic will be directed to exit at Jefferson Avenue. The construction should have no impact whatsoever on those travelling on Interstates 44, 55 or 70.

Project managers hope to complete construction and reopen the bridge in approximately 14 months. The new Grand Boulevard bridge will feature wider traffic lanes, sidewalks, bike lanes and turn-out lanes, making travel for all commuters, motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists safer and more pleasant.  This is one of several infrastructure improvements currently underway throughout the City of St. Louis. We’re excited about these changes and the positive impact they will have on our community.
