“Being healthy can be an important part of being a health care provider ,” says Phillip Sowa, Saint Louis University Hospital president and CEO. “We take such efforts seriously and are proud to be recognized for it by the AHA.”

The hospital’s “Grandest Loser” competition has had hundreds of its 1,800 employees participate with several success stories of those losing large percentages of weight.  The bi-annual competition encourages employees to eat healthier and exercise.
