ST. LOUIS – Colorectal cancer is the most common cause of cancer death, but is thought to be the most curable and preventable if detected early.
To help support this message, Saint Louis University Hospital is a proud sponsor of the fifth annual UNDY 5000 Saturday, March 23 in Forest Park. The UNDY 5000 consists a 5K or one mile fun run or walk with proceeds going to colorectal cancer research through the Colon Cancer Alliance.
“When detected early and promptly treated, people often can return to normal lives,” says Donald Summers, MD, colorectal surgeon at Saint Louis University Hospital and a SLUCare physician. “Events like the UNDY 5000 go a long way in raising such awareness.”
Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite boxer shorts for the “UNDY” and participants receive UNDY 5000 boxers as part of registration. For those who register with the Saint Louis University Hospital team, participants will also receive SLU Hospital boxers.
