Pastoral Care

The staff of the Pastoral Care Department is available to provide spiritual care to you and your family. A chaplain may visit you soon after your admission.

Chaplains are routinely available between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily and at any other time for emergencies. Please let your nurse know when you need a chaplain for conversation, support, guidance, the sacraments, prayer, grieving, thanksgiving or help with concerns about values and decisions regarding advance directives.

Spiritual care is offered to people of all faiths. For Catholic patients, Holy Communion is available Sunday through Friday; confession is celebrated upon request; and annointing the sick for restoration to the body, mind and spirit is also available.

Saint Louis University Hospital is also a site for Clinical Pastoral Education. Extended units, intensive summer units and residency are offered. For more information, contact (314) 577-8066.
