Saint Louis University Hospital’s Sports Medicine team specializes in both traumatic injuries and chronic problems caused by overuse. We have a simple philosophy when it comes to treating injured athletes: injuries should be evaluated early to help ensure what was a game-ender does not become a season-ender.
SLU Hospital’s Sports Medicine team consists of orthopaedic surgeons, neurologists, primary care physicians, physical therapists and athletic trainers, who work together as to treat any type of sports-related injury in patients of all ages and skill levels. We employ a team approach — working with coaches and athletic trainers — to ensure that injured athletes have a seamless treatment and recovery plan. Additionally, we work to help athletes not only recover from injuries, but also to prevent re-injuries.
From diagnostic and treatment services to follow-up rehabilitation, including physical and occupational therapy, our sports medicine team works to ensure patients make a full recovery so they can return to their daily and sports-related activities. Our goal is to help you get back in the game.

Fall Saturday Sports Clinic
Sports injuries are never planned, but they always seem to happen at the most inconvenient times. That’s why SLU Hospital’s sports medicine team operates the Fall Saturday Sports Clinic (August through November) from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
If you’re a high school or college-level athlete experiencing swelling, numbness, intense pain, tenderness, stiffness or the loss of flexibility, you can visit the Clinic and be evaluated and treated by one of our board-certified sports medicine specialists. More importantly, you no longer have to wait until the following week to be seen by a specialist.
We also offer same-day imaging results on some of the most advanced imaging tools available in the St. Louis region. Plus, you don’t need an appointment to be seen. We promise to work together to get you back on the field. For more information about the Saturday Sports Clinic, call 314-256-3850.
