We use safe, painless and cost-effective techniques to image the body and treat disease. For instance, nuclear medicine imaging procedures often identify abnormalities very early in the progress of a disease-long before many medical problems are apparent with other diagnostic tests. Using CT and MRI imaging, our body imaging specialists examine the chest, abdominal and pelvic regions of the body, while our neuroradiologists examine the head, neck and spine.
Saint Louis University Hospital’s Radiology Services department is committed to stopping disease in its tracks through prompt diagnostic and interventional radiologic and imaging procedures including:
Additionally, our radiologists offer minimally invasive, non-surgical alternatives to traditional procedures for a variety of conditions, including tumor ablation, which is used to eliminate tumors in organs such as the liver, lung and kidneys; angioplasty, a way of opening a narrowed or closed blood vessel without having to do major surgery; embolization, a way of closing or drastically reducing blood flow through one or more blood vessels that are associated with disease; and aneurysm and AVM embolization, a minimally invasive way of treating vascular malformations of the brain and spine.
