Stephen Zieniewicz has been named the Chief Operating Officer of Saint Louis University Hospital. His appointment was announced by Crystal Haynes, Chief Executive Officer of the hospital.
As Saint Louis University Hospital’s Chief Operating Officer, Zieniewicz will have direct oversight of a range of clinical departments, including Heart Services, Diagnostic and Imaging Services, Surgical Services, Pulmonary Services, Neurology Services, Radiation Oncology, Trauma Services, TenetCare (outpatient services) and the Emergency Department. He also has responsibility for several support areas of the hospital including Building Services, Clinical Engineering, Protective Services, Energy Center, Food & Nutrition, Environmental Services and the Mailroom.
Zieniewicz, a healthcare executive with extensive leadership experience in large teaching hospitals, comes to St. Louis from South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, NY, where he served as vice president of support services with responsibilities for a wide range of clinical and operations departments, including Medicine, Surgery, Case Management, Social Work, Health Information Management, Pharmacy, Laboratory Services, Dietary, and Safety and Security. He also had executive oversight for several hospital-wide performance improvement and customer service projects.

In addition to his position at South Nassau Communities Hospital, Zieniewicz also has held senior management positions at several other New York hospitals, including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He earned his master’s degree in public health from Columbia University School of Public Health in New York and holds memberships in several healthcare organizations, including the American College of Healthcare Executives, where he has attained Diplomate status.
