April 16, 2014, ST. LOUIS - You may have seen recent TV commercials with April Leah McKinney, her young son and SLUCare neurosurgery chairman Saleem Abdulrauf, MD.
The Kentucky native faced an uncertain future after two surgeries were unable to remove a brain tumor in close proximity to her brain stem. She was referred to SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, where Dr. Abdulrauf, MD, and his team were able to cure her and get her back to her family.
