Representatives of the Air Force's C-STARS program visited their partners at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital for an update on the program from hospital officials.

C-STARS is the Center For Sustainment Of Trauma and Readiness Skills and it focuses on clinical immersion to enable physicians, nurses, and medical technicians to obtain currency in AFSC-specific Readiness Skills Verification (RSV) requirements. The goal of C-STARS is to produce "warrior medics" ready to respond to any peacetime/wartime contingency.

As a Level-1 trauma center, SLU Hospital provides a training site with a large volume of critical care patients other medical professionals may not have access to at a smaller community hospital. SLU Hospital is one of only three hospitals in the nation who partner with the Air Force on this endeavor.

For more info, visit the Air Force C-STARS site here or check out the above video.

If this is a medical emergency, call 911 right away.
