November 12, 2015, ST. LOUIS - A big congratulations to Stacy Bohn, RN, our Daisy Nursing Winner for November.
The Daisy award is presented to nurses honoring “the super-human work nurses do for patients and families every day.” Bohn embodies that spirit daily.
Bohn began her career at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital as a care partner on 8 North and quickly fell in love with her teammates.
“I knew instantly this is where I belonged, and knew that when I finished my nursing degree I would stay here at SLU Hospital,” she says. “I was fortunate enough to be trained by some of the BEST nurses, and I wanted to give back.”
When SLU Hospital opened the Center for Outpatient Blood and Marrow Transplant – the first in St. Louis and only one in the region – she transferred there in 2012.
“Both the BMT and 8 North staff have not only been a support system for me when things get hard, but they have been an extended family,” she says. “It’s a big hospital, but it still feels like we are all a family.”
She says working with bone marrow transplant patients has been life changing.
“Because of them I am a much more patient person. I’ve learned how to truly enjoy life, and I cherish every moment I have on this Earth, because we never know when it will be our last,” says Bohn. “They are truly an inspiration to me, and I am thankful for each and every one of them.”
Congratulations, Stacy!
