Sister Joyce says teamwork is what makes SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital special.
“What makes it special is the wonderful teamwork we have between the different disciplines in staff,” she says. “You really feel like you’re part of a team.”
As a Level 1 Trauma Center, our hospital often treats patients arriving in the midst of critical medical problems. As a chaplain, Sister Joyce frequently meets with those family members to help support them and she says it’s the most rewarding part of her career.
“To be a pastoral presence during a time of crisis and illness and being able to be with a patient or family to support them in a crisis situation means so much,” she says.
