"What makes it special is the wonderful teamwork we have between the different disciplines in staff," she says. "You really feel like you're part of a team."
As a Level 1 Trauma Center, our hospital often treats patients arriving in the midst of critical medical problems. As a chaplain, Sister Joyce frequently meets with those family members to help support them and she says it's the most rewarding part of her career.
"To be a pastoral presence during a time of crisis and illness and being able to be with a patient or family to support them in a crisis situation means so much," she says.
