Saint Louis University Hospital obtained the highest score possible in a Donor Satisfaction Survey administered by the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP).  The survey measures the satisfaction of the donor’s experience at all NMDP collection center locations and is used to identify areas for improvement.  The Donor Satisfaction Survey was administered to all donors between April and September of 2008.  

When donors come to SLU Hospital, every effort is made to make sure they understand the process of donation.  “Donors do not get paid for doing this so we do everything we can to make sure that their experience is a great one,” says Joanne Kelly, the NMDP Coordinator at SLU Hospital.  

SLU Hospital has been a collection center for the NMDP since 1993 and a participating NMDP apheresis center for the collection of peripheral blood stem cells since 2004.  The marrow and peripheral blood stem cells collected at SLU hospital help treat patients with leukemia, lymphoma and other life threatening diseases.  SLU Hospital is the only NMDP collection center in the state of Missouri.
