Abrahms brings an extensive professional history in healthcare consulting to his new position at Saint Louis University Hospital including merger planning, market strategy, financial operations, management redesign, product development, performance improvement and physician network development. He most recently worked with the president and trustees of Drexel University in Philadelphia on that institution’s merger with MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine. His background includes work at three of the country’s largest consulting firms—Deloitte & Touche, William M. Mercer, Inc. and Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting).

Abrahms holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Weatherford School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He earned a

bachelor of arts degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Dedicated in 1933, Saint Louis University Hospital is a 356-bed quaternary facility that employs a staff of 1,800. Through a partnership with SLUCare, the physicians of Saint Louis University, Saint Louis University Hospital serves as the primary teaching site for the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. The hospital is the St. Louis area’s only Level I Trauma Center certified by both Missouri and Illinois.

Saint Louis University Hospital has been perennially ranked by U.S News & World in multiple categories as one of "America’s Best Hospitals." Earlier this year, SLU Hospital was also recognized by Modern Maturity magazine as one of the top 50 hospitals in the United States and one of the top 10 renal care hospitals.

Tenet Saint Louis, headed by Chief Executive Officer Phillip S. Schaengold, is a five-hospital network of academic and community hospitals with 1,584 licensed beds.
