May 18, 2015, ST. LOUIS - To kick off EMS Week, emergency and trauma staffers at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital hosted their annual EMS BBQ at Tower Grove Park today. Over 250 first responders stopped by for a gift and Kenrick’s BBQ right out of the smoker.
“We value the work these guys do tremendously because they not only put their neck on the line in extreme circumstances, they can mean all the difference in a patient being alive or dead when they walk in the door,” says Helen Sandkuhl, RN, director of emergency and trauma services at SLU Hospital.
EMS Week was founded in 1973 by President Gerald Ford to honor those responding to medical emergencies.
