The term Physical Medicine and Rehab (PMR) includes physical, occupational and speech therapy. Did you know that SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital employs 24 physical therapists (PT) and PT assistants; 8 speech therapists, 14 OT and COTA between full time, weekend, PRN and 9 support staff (director and rehab techs)?
This collective includes full and part-time, PRN and weekend only staff to cover seven days a week, 361 days a year. While therapists in rehabilitation units carry an average patient load of 6-10 patients a day, therapists at SLU Hospital in acute care carry loads between 15-25 depending on the patient’s need and overall census. PMR also sees outpatients at our clinics on the first floor of the hospital and on the ground floor at ABI.
